European Foundry Industry Sentiment Indicator (FISI) improved in May 2025

European Foundry Industry Sentiment Indicator (FISI) hits the first obstacle in April 2025
After three months of slow but consecutive increase, in April 2025 The European Foundry Industry Sentiment Indicator (FISI), conducted monthly by the European Foundry Federation, hits the first obstacle. Compared to the data from March 2025, the FISI decreased from 94.6 to 94.0.
While the current situation in both ferrous and non-ferrous foundry industry is slightly better than a month before, the negative expectations for the second half of 2025 contributed to achieving this level of indicator.
In Apil 2025, the Business Climate Indicator (BCI), an index published by European Commission was at the level of -0,67, with the level of - 0.73 in March 2025

Eurozone Manufacturing PMI in June 2025 stays at a level of 49.4, just like in May 2025.
Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) in the Euro area is an indicator of the economic health of the manufacturing sector. It is based on such indicators as: new orders, inventory levels, production, supplier deliveries and the employment environment.
Looking at the industry's positive expectations for the second half of the year, it may seem that the slowdown in April 2025 was only temporary. While waiting for future signals from European foundries, EFF is constantly monitoring the situation in the European foundry industry.

The FISI – European Foundry Industry Sentiment Indicator – is the earliest available composite indicator providing information on the European foundry industry performance. It is published by EFF every month and is based on survey responses of the European foundry industry. The EFF members are asked to give their assessment of the current business situation in the foundry sector and their expectations for the next six months.
The BCI – Business Climate Indicator – is an indicator published by the European Commission. The BCI evaluates development conditions of the manufacturing sector in the euro area every month and uses five balances of opinion from industry survey: production trends, order books, export order books, stocks and production expectations.
